One of them even had the nerve to ask me to take their photo. What, I'm your free photographer now? In a blatant act of defiance, I ignored the centuries-old guidelines of composition and balance, placing them smack in the middle of the picture. What's more, I neither calibrated the white balance nor adjusted the exposure settings manually. Yeah, take that!

I was made for tech

I could have known from a pretty young age that I'd major in something technical . Besides loving star wars and transformers, I remember having an inexplicable obsession with things like microchips, hot lava, and acid (not the drug). One day in elementary school my friend brought in a small vial of light green liquid, claiming it was acid. We all gathered around him in fear and amazement. You can imagine my joy when another friend gave away a bunch of broken computer processors, some with the open top so you could see the actual silicon chip. Extremely beautiful, utterly useless, a kid's priceless treasure.
Wednesday, July 05, 2006

my phone has great reception!

Flies are perhaps the most disgusting of insects. They eat waste and
dead things (which is good for the planet) but then they land
everywhere, spreading disease. They loudly buzz around,
(deliberately?) taunting you and even bashing into you only to zip away
before you can take a good swat. I've had to come up with a pretty mean
arsenal of fly-killing techniques over the years.

Did you know? the mosquito is a type of fly.

--

Theres a type of human I will never fully understand. He always buzzes
around you, taking on some semblance of a 'friend', but way too often
puts you down with the most random and unqualified criticisms.* Say you
have some hobby 'X' and you're pretty good at it. guy comes up to you
and starts criticizing you out of the blue. only later do you find out
that guy doesnt even practice 'X' the way you do, and you also find out
he's generally the same kind of asshole all the time. Do these people
realize that they're making a fool of themselves every time?

What, even, is the motivation? If you disagree with me so much then why are you buzzing around me all the damn time?
why is it your sole purpose on this world to annoy the crap out of
others? do you want to speak poorly of me and others so you can feel
better about yourself? (don't you know everyone else is probably
thinking behind your back 'who's this smartass who thinks he knows it
all?') is it a chemical inbalance? feedback is welcome>>>

A person above the age of ~20 really has no excuse for being a jerk.
Maybe before that age you had a messy childhood or just didn't know
that certain things are mean to say or do. but after a while you will
have been warned. multiple times. and if you're still saying assholish
things, it's your own choice.

life's short. don't suffer those people, they don't deserve your time.
Heck, I won't any longer. Be nice to the nice, be mean to the mean.

----
*Don't get me wrong. I'm a big fan of giving and getting constructive
criticism in life. Sometimes that's the only way we see the proverbial
'spinach in the teeth'. But this criticism should come when it's asked
for, or only from the 'inner circle of trust' and from those qualified
on the subject of spinach and teeth.
Tuesday, May 23, 2006

Yeung Chan
